Learn to document Digbeth in this on-site drawing workshop.
Involving a variety of techniques in mark making and experimental drawing, to capture the vibrant industrial streets of Birmingham. Expect a new approach to drawing, an intriguing documentation process and a final piece outcome.
The group will start at a location (BCU Curzon Atrium), go through warm up drawing exercises before heading out on a walk + draw explore! Some materials provided, but please bring your own sketchbook and any other materials you like to draw with.
Suitable for all drawing abilities.
Accessibility note: This workshop does require walking and drawing whilst standing, sometimes at challenging angles!

Artist
Abbie Severn is a reportage artist originating from coastal Pembrokeshire. Having moved to study for her degree in Birmingham in 2015. The vast contrast in environments led to an intrigue in documenting her secondary urban surroundings.
Having spent 3+ years documenting the industrial Digbeth, Birmingham. Through on site mark making and drawing, in collecting a sensory record of the space and building these into larger drawings and screen prints. Abbie now leads workshops and events teaching her on location drawing techniques in capturing an area’s snapshot in history.
