Is being a freelance illustrator freedom or is the grass greener on the other side as my friends always say. Having made it to a year of being fully freelance, I will be discussing the incredible rewards of being an illustrator as well as the hidden challenges that come along the way and how you’ve really got to just say yes to opportunities that might intimidate you (kind of like this talk).

Zena Kay is a freelance illustrator, passionate about celebrating the beauty in the everyday and food. Her digital illustrations, full of colour, curvy shapes and wonky forks, document those moments that might be forgotten, from conversations with friends, that incredibly colourful food shop to the tiny details that make a home. Currently working from her studio in Nottingham, she often escapes for a month or six to elsewhere in the world.
