Art Historian and Printmaker Ella Flavell explores art’s unique ability to transport viewers to different times, places, and realities, and what impact this can have on engaging audiences and communicating experience. Using examples from Art History and her own artistic practice, this talk offers a tour of art’s dis-locating abilities and the important role this can play in fostering connections between maker and viewer.

Ella Flavell is a printmaker and Art History PhD researcher based in Dudley. Since 2017 she has been creating linocuts of cityscapes and film scenes under the name Burin & Plate, which references the historical printmaking techniques which first drew her to the medium.
