UUendy Lau (UU)
Illustrator, Designer & Installation Artist
UUendy Lau (also known as UU) is an illustrator, designer and installation artist whose practice includes murals, narrative drawing and participatory art to create meaningful connections with local neighbourhoods. Inspired by nature as a universal language, her work explores relationships between people, the environment and cultural memory, bridging diverse ways of living and shared human experiences from different places.
Working across wall-based illustration and mixed-media installation, UU sees public art as a way to transform spaces into sites of connection and speculation. She approaches each street surface as an opportunity to tell stories that resonate locally while sparking curiosity and conversation. Her visual language combines bold colour, strong line work and dynamic compositions to translate overlooked details from urban and natural environments into playful and welcoming scenes that invite audiences to slow down, engage and reflect.
She has collaborated with commercial clients and cultural institutions including UNIQLO, Lomography, Aesop, 9GAG, Animoca Brands, Vans, HKWalls Festival and M+ Museum, and has participated in international residencies and art fairs in Belgium, Germany, Australia and Japan. Alongside commissioned work, she also initiates independent projects such as the “OVERTHINK” series of zines and daily art objects.
