Dual Works is formed of Zoe Robertson, Steve Snell and Olivia Ricketts. We work collaboratively to design and build furniture and interiors that solve problems with thoughtful imagination and experienced craftsmanship. Every piece is purposeful and distinctive – made to bring joy, pride and personal connection, blending material knowledge and design-led thinking with hands-on making. We create imaginative design-led solutions with personality and purpose. Our projects are expertly fabricated utilising our broad materials knowledge, and we install a range of projects across Furniture and Objects, Spaces and Interiors. People are at the heart of our work, and this approach ensures we create solutions that positively impact how people live, work and play. We build strong relationships, resulting in collective achievements that we are proud of. We thrive on curiosity, and our playful response attracts a wide range of clients and diverse commissions. As designers and makers with a broad creative, fabrication and material skillsets, we bring practical skills and experience of project management, artistic endeavour and creative facilitation, including residencies, workshops, exhibitions and events.

Olivia Ricketts designer maker at Dual Works. Olivia is a furniture designer-maker exploring how materials and processes shape the things we use every day. She experiments with different techniques to develop new forms and objects. Her work focuses on longevity, both physical and emotional, and the connections we build with the things we choose to keep. Her graduate piece, Snug Chair (2022), is a lounge chair with felt pads designed to wear over time, revealing the character and imperfections of an ageing object. The piece was awarded second place in the Young Furniture Makers Textile Award and selected for display at Grand Designs Live Birmingham as part of Kevin’s Green Heroes. More recently, she developed a collection of stools for the Craftspace Made in the Middle, UK touring exhibition (2025–26). The pieces are designed around sustainability and adaptability, with interchangeable domes set within a frame, allowing them to change and grow over time. Materials include ash, cork, and felt. As part of Dual Works, Olivia combines digital 3D processes with a passion for hands-on making to collaborate with the team.

Steve Snell is co-founder of Dual Works As a designer-maker, he has developed a rich and diverse body of knowledge through hands-on experimentation, exploring the relationships between material, technique, and scale. With a background spanning the creative industries and higher education, Steve has supported students across a wide range of design-led degree programmes, bringing practical insight and material curiosity into his teaching and mentorship. His practice is rooted in an analogue, exploratory approach—investigating how things are made through direct engagement with tools and materials. This ethos is reflected in his artistic work as one half of Sellotape Cinema, an experimental film duo. Together, they create handmade films, animations, and documentaries by working directly onto sticky tape, using specially adapted “Sellotrope” projectors. Their performances often combine live projection with found sound, resulting in immersive, improvised audio-visual experiences. Sellotape Cinema’s work has been presented at international film festivals and experimental arts events, including the Flatpack Film Festival and screenings in Hollywood. Their projects span multi-screen installations, live optical sound performances, and experimental documentaries, contributing to the expanded field of moving image and projection art.
