Mission Print join us as Supporters of this years Birmingham Design Festival!
We’re excited to have the support of Mission Print for BDF 2026, as they celebrate 31 years of creative printing in the city. Mission Print are excited for festival-goers to step into their historic spaces — including the old print units and T-shirt operations, and experience the rich creative history built into the very walls.
This year Mission Print celebrates its 31st year supplying the creative industries with print.
If you’re visiting any of the BDF events at The Printmakers Arms you’re sitting in one of our old units where, for 20 years our B2 Heidelberg Speedmaster lived.
We shared that unit with A Third Foot – the UK’s first skateboard manufacturer – an innovative team from Worcester who imported Canadian maple, glued the ply together, pressed, shaped and printed.
The unit down the driveway to the left was home to our TShirt printing operation where in the early 2000’s we shared space with Unabomber Skateboards and a skate ramp for locals.
Our third unit adjacent to the corner building saw decades of fine art editions printed for some of the UK’s leading street artists and illustrators
The building on the corner of Andover Street used to be The Royal Oak (c1825) up till the 1930’s, later Arnew Rubber then in the 80’s fell into disrepair as forklift storage for McLemans until we took it on in 1999.
With an insecure lease giving us only 3 months notice we stayed for over 22 years but never really had the confidence to invest too much in the building.
After Mission left the leases were taken on by Moseley Folk, and aside from the Printmakers venue is now home to artists collective Free House.
Last year Silent Witness filmed an episode where they transformed the building into a squat which didn’t take them long!
In 2008 a group of Brazillian street artist on a cultural exchange to Paris kindly made a detour to come to Birmingham to paint our building. In more recent years we took part in Streets of Colour Festival and in 2023 hosted the Hi Vis Street Art Festival, proudly displaying works from some of the region’s best artists.
In 2019 we were lucky to find and purchase our current premises – the old listed art deco factory Hampton Works in Stirchley by the River Rea.
We converted parts of the building into spaces to rent which are now fully occupied with like-minded businesses from complementary trades including The Framers, An Endless Supply, Hank & Margot Photography.
