Join Gemma O’Brien at Birmingham Design Festival for a workshop that brings language to life through a variety of hands-on techniques.
The workshop will begin with a showcase of Gemma’s process, with demos in two approaches: illustrated letters inspired by nature, and experimental calligraphy with brush pens, balsa wood & ink.
Participants will then choose their preferred approach to continue with in the second part of the workshop and work independently with inspiration and one-on-one guidance on hand as required.
Participants are asked to bring a shortlist of words, phrases, letters and numbers that are meaningful to them as a starting point for their designs.
