Do you love sustainable fashion? Do you want to reinvent used clothes rather than just chuck them away? Join local Artist, Baljit Rayit, for an interactive upcycling workshop aimed at creatively transforming your clothes. Baljit will be talking you through repurposing an item of clothing and then you’ll be let loose with nothing but a paintbrush and your imagination. You’ll be walking away from the workshop having created a unique item using fabric paints and stickers. No experience is required, just a bring yourself. Aprons, paints and clothing items will be provided. (If you have have a t-shirt/denim jacket etc in mind that you’d like to spruce up, feel free to bring it with you!)

Baljit is a self-taught mixed media Artist who is passionate about sustainability and empowering local community. Her art is characteristic of bright colours and vibrant energy. She loves creating art on anything from denim to ceramics.

She teaches fun and interactive upcycling workshops that encourage people to roll up their sleeves up and get lost in their creative potential. She is on a mission to inspire people to uniquely renovate their old clothes, and in doing so, save it from ending up in a landfill! Re-use, re-purpose and re-invent!

BCU STEAMhouse - Games room

STEAMhouse is a unique new space for innovation through interdisciplinary collaboration. Powered by Birmingham City University, their free workshops and events allow people to share and develop their ideas with experts from many different backgrounds. The venue has specially designed spaces to encourage businesses to incubate new ideas, and prototype new products and services. It also houses a fabrication facility where members can experiment with digital, wood, metal and print production.

STEAMhouse is located on Digbeth High Street, a stone’s throw from the city centre.
