The Crossing is a multi-purpose event/concert venue situated in South & City College Birmingham’s Digbeth campus located in the heart of the Digbeth creative district. With a standing capacity of 600 or 350 seated with the retractable theatre-style seating, the venue hosts many different events from live music concerts, DJ’s, theatre/comedy/dance shows, record fairs, seminars, awards ceremonies, installations, TV/music video filming, production rehearsals and many other uses.
As an independent grassroots music venue, The Crossing provides a welcome alternative to the corporate chain venues in Birmingham regularly hosting shows by award-winning promoters such as This Is TMRW, Capsule, Moseley Folk/Moonshine Collective, Sonic Gun, Killer Wave, Birmingham Jazz and many others. Over the last few years, the venue has hosted the Future Days, Supersonic, Between The Lines and Sonic Wave festivals and welcomed a wide range of international artists including Kurt Vile, Deerhunter, Squid, Hot Chip, Idlewild, Gruff Rhys, The Bug, Sunn o))), Pond, Oh Sees, DIIV, British Sea Power, Moon Duo, The Comet Is Coming, Bo Ningen, Kamaal Williams, Yussef Dayes, Musical Youth, Trevor Horn, Ruby Turner, Crazy P, Norman Jay, Andrew Weatherall (RIP), Parquet Courts, Colin Stetson, Dalek, British Murder Boys and many other.
Often credited with having one of the best quality sound and lighting systems in Birmingham, the venue boasts a flown Nexo PA system with Midas Pro 2 & Digidesign Profile consoles alongside a Chamsys Magic Q70 lighting desk.
