“Worlds within Worlds” A scene from the Harkenon War Room
VR Experience by Territory Studio
Come and enjoy a brand new VR experience from Territory Studio, as part of the Processing… exhibition at BDF in 2024. Located at 38 Floodgate street visitors will be able to don a headset and be transported to the universe of Dune for a short experience set in the Harkenon War Room.
The Harkonnen war table, featuring a highly detailed 3D holographic projection, serves as a pivotal narrative prop in the opening scenes of Dune: Part Two. These scenes orient the audience to the ongoing war between the Fremen and Harkonnen house.
To emphasise the design intricacies of this element, our goal was to momentarily freeze time within the film, providing viewers with ample opportunity to explore the user interface and detailed information using Virtual Reality.
Utilising Unreal Engine, we transitioned the 3D scene that we had originally crafted for the feature film into an asset within a game engine environment. Converting feature film assets into game engines presents a unique challenge as they must retain as much fidelity as possible when integrated into a VR space.
Immersed within the scene, viewers are transported into the world of Harkonnen, offering an experience akin to being present within the narrative. The outcome represents our endeavor to create a AAA-level, super high-fidelity experience, pushing the boundaries of visual storytelling.
