Paul McNeil and Hamish Muir’s talk will focus on the centrality of form-giving to their design practice. A number of typographic projects, driven by both intention, chance and algorithmic procedures, will be presented to illustrate how expansive design spaces can be populated, mapped and articulated, relieving the designer from the heavy burden of trying to invent ‘new’ things while also opening up undiscovered and unpredictable vistas.
