Announcing our first speakers for BDF 2024
Birmingham Design Festival returns in June in full festival format, and we’re really excited to share our first batch of speaker announcements: 14 incredibly talented creatives who’ll be sharing their Process over the course of three days in June.
This year Birmingham Design Festival is returning in full festival format – which means over 80 speakers and 100 events across 3 days and multiple venues in June.
There’ll be talks, workshops, exhibitions and more to enjoy as we delve deep into Process in each of our Design Districts – Graphic, Digital, Product and Illustration.
In our speaker announcement video (above), we’ve shared the exciting news that a host of incredibly talented speakers will join us for 2024 (with a backing track from Wolverhampton-based collective Lions of Dissent).
From the cinematic worlds of Wes Anderson and Sony’s Spider-Verse to incredible illustration, hand lettering and graphic design, to fashion, architecture and craft, to copywriting, digital design and stop-motion – there’ll be something for everyone this year at BDF!
The best part, as always, is the festival is still incredibly accessible – with most of our events free to attend, and the ones that aren’t will remain the same price they were in 2018.
We’ll be welcoming speakers from across the globe, some of whom we’ve been trying to bring to Birmingham for nearly a decade – and this is just the beginning. We’re set to announce several dozen more at our next event – BDF Gather: The Remasters on Thursday 18th April. Join us there to be the first to hear to full line-up.
Tickets for BDF 2024 will go on sale late-April/early May. You can find out more about what to expect here.
Evening events are back and bigger than ever
BDF evenings are always special; they’re an opportunity for us to group speakers of different disciplines across a similar theme and bring everyone at the festival together to finish the day in style.
From 7pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at BDF 2024, we’ll be heading to the Giant Screen at Millenium Point for a larger-than-life showcase of creativity on the old IMAX screen, which offers an unparalleled view into the artist’s work on the biggest screen imaginable.
We’re excited to share that the first of those evenings, on Thursday 6th June, will include Lettering Artist & New York Times Bestselling Author Jessica Hische, Graphic Designer for film Annie Atkins and Creative Director of Character Design at Sesame Workshop Louis Henry Mitchell.
We can’t think of a better way to spend an evening, and that’s just one small part of BDF 2024. We’re excited to share more soon.
