Attic join as Supporter and brew a new beer exclusively for BDF 2026

At Attic, we’re excited to be sponsoring the Birmingham Design Festival this year by brewing a special beer only available at the Festival!

Born in South Birmingham and built on hard graft, creativity and community. What started in an attic in Kings Heath has grown into the largest independent brewery in the West Midlands. We’re still owner-operated, still self-funded, and still grounded in our community.

Having met at university, founders Oli & Sam bonded over a shared love of pubs and the world of beer. Fed up with their corporate jobs after graduating, they set up Attic with a simple desire: to bring better beer to Birmingham.

Brewing our first beers in Sam’s attic with a brewery he built with his grandad, our early batches quickly became a hit with everyone we knew, and suddenly that little room felt too small. We knew the rest of Brum needed a taste too.

We started small with ancient kit and built our taproom with the help of friends and family. We’ve had our fair share of tough days and setbacks along the way, but bit by bit we’ve kept at it. Reinvesting everything we made back into the brewery, we grew from local brewpub into the region’s largest independent brewery. Now our beer reaches people across Brum and beyond.

We’re representing Birmingham on the national stage. A modern expression of the city’s confidence, creativity and warmth.

This is not a corporate story. It’s a Birmingham one.
