Check out the recent rebrand from our friends at GF Smith, Gold Partners of BDF 2025

In January 2025, GF Smith unveiled a bright, bold, and future-facing rebrand that embodies the business’s heart-held values and role in the contemporary creative landscape.

GF Smith works in partnership with brands, creatives, designers and specialists across the globe to source, curate and supply the world’s finest paper as the foundation for those that seek to create. They are experts when it comes to choosing and providing quality, specialist papers that are tactile in nature, vibrant in colour and distinct in range.

As an independent business committed to community, colour and creativity, it is known for its exceptional range of creative papers, technical expertise, specialist services and warm, friendly approach.

In January 2025, GF Smith unveiled a bright, bold, future-facing rebrand that embodies the business’s heart-held values and role in the contemporary creative landscape.

The new brand positioning, architecture, and visual identity were created by the cause-led branding agency TEMPLO after an extensive deep-dive research process designed to explore GF Smith’s people, culture, values, and purpose and bring them to the forefront of its visual brand expression

As part of the rebrand, GF Smith has re-imagined their flagship GF Smith Colorplan Collection for the first time in years to include even more colours, specialist textures, and unique finishes.

From celebrating paper as a sustainable material with their new recycled paper ranges to embracing a rainbow of new colours inspired by their archive and trend forecasting – explore, discover and let your creativity roam free.

Who says functional can’t be fun?

GF Smith designed their latest activation, the Colorplan Carabiner, to make it even simpler to find the perfect colour. It is a totally new take on the classic paper swatch. Light, compact, and tactile, it contains the entire Colorplan spectrum, making it even easier to see what shade works best.

A playful and hyper-useful paper specification tool, the paper leaves can be easily taken off of the clip with a perforation on each page, which allows for easy comparison of colours, weights, and products. Simply clip it to your bag, desk, clothes, or hang it up in your studio for a world of colour that’s just a flip away.

Planet-friendly paper

As a B Corp-certified business, GF Smith is committed to giving back to the planet we all live on and is always looking for ways to innovate, rethink, and challenge how they do things to make their business as sustainable and planet-friendly as possible. As one of the world’s oldest and most natural materials, paper can be recycled more than seven times, and GF Smith offers a wide range of paper made from various recycled materials.

This was a key consideration when re-imagining Colorplan, and they are delighted to introduce GF Smith Colorplan Extracted and GF Smith Colorplan 50/50 to the range.

With ten brand new colours inspired by the GF Smith archives and future colour trend forecasts, GF Smith Colorplan Extracted is designed with sustainability in mind, made from 100% recycled fibres using a minimum of 25% post-consumer coffee cups.

Bringing six of Colorplan’s most-loved colours to life in two weights, GF Smith Colorplan 50/50 is crafted from 50% virgin fibres and 50% recycled fibres – because sustainability and quality can and should go hand in hand.
