Become a partner

BDF is a non-profit organisation dedicated to enhancing the design scene in Birmingham (and beyond). Partners help us pay for venues, speakers and operating costs – ensuring the festival is accessible for all.

Birmingham Design Festival is founded on the belief that design conferences should be affordable for all who want to attend, no matter their income. As a result of this, most events at the festival are free, and the ones you do pay for are very low cost.

We’ve had fantastic support from those in the industry and business leaders around Birmingham to help us to do this, but we still need generous partners who will offer money and support-in-kind in exchange for exposure throughout the festival.

The structure of our events allows companies from a variety of backgrounds to get involved, with varying price tiers to suit your goals in reaching our audience.

A leading presence on all festival promotion on & offline, before and throughout the festival. Tailored activation to all attendees providing multiple touch points & unique engagement opportunities.

A strong presence on all events in a specific district in the build-up to and during the festival. Tailored activation to all attendees visiting events in the district.

  • Listed as ‘District partner’ on partner pages on the website and printed festival communication.

  • Activation in the form of competitions, workshops and events at the festival.

Event sponsor

£750 - £3000

Sponsor a specific event helping pay for speakers travel, venue and equipment and receive prominence on all promotion in regards to that event, on and offline. 

  • Logo featured on screens and banners (depending on the event) around the venue.
  • Listed as ‘Event partner’ in festival programme and on event page when booking tickets.
  • Opportunity to promote at the event via flyers and/or a stall (depending on the event).

Supporter

£1000

Supporters will receive activation during the festival and appear inside the printed programme and on the website, receive festival passes and exclusive event access.

  • 5 festival passes allowing for free roam of festival events (tickets must still be booked).

Case studies

2018

McCann

Main partner

Global agency supergroup McCann were a main sponsor of BDF2018, and took their role very seriously, getting stuck in with a unique and exciting partnership activation. 

They invited creatives to pitch themselves in 130 seconds to ‘win’ a new job, from the back of a van!  This challenge was hugely popular with over 40 pitches over the festival duration – and 4 candidates awarded placements – and one full time junior creative position!

2018

Awesome Merchandise

Main partner

As main sponsors Awesome Merchandise threw themselves into helping make BDF as awesome as possible – from hosting multiple workshops at ROPE Press and free to attend live-screen printing demo’s, to filming Aaron Draplin talking about his love of merch, to introducing our evening speakers at the Conservatoire!

All our attendees went home with awesome merch thanks to Awesome Merchandise, and volunteers were highly visible in their BDF t-shirts, lanyards, badges etc.  

2018

Foilco

District partner

We were delighted to have the new Foilco Workshop with us at BDF2018. Created to showcase different foiling techniques and processes associated with it, Workshop aims to educate and inspire students, printers, bedroom entrepreneurs and anybody else who might be interested in all things foil! 

The workshop allowed participants the chance to get hands on with hot stamping foils, use traditional printing equipment (hot stamping) and innovative equivalents (digital toner foiling).

It’s an opportunity for you guys as the designers or printers of tomorrow, to inspire us in the different creative ways that you can use foil in graphic design and manufacturing.

We have the playground and we want you to have fun in it.
