Shaqa Bovand is an Iranian type designer specialising in Arabic script, currently based in the UK. With a background in graphic design, her work bridges cultural, linguistic, and visual systems. After training as a graphic designer in Iran, Shaqa discovered that her true passion lay in type, which led her to pursue an MA in Typeface Design at the University of Reading.

Shaqa is now part of the team at F37 Foundry, where she contributes to multi-script type work for global clients. Her approach is rooted in calligraphic traditions while embracing innovation and digital adaptability. Through her work, Shaqa explores the space between languages, cultures, and scripts; whether designing Arabic pixel fonts, bilingual brand typefaces, or protest-driven letterforms.
