“Kate Hook is a Birmingham-born photographer who specialises in creative analogue photography. She moved to Brighton in 2019 before returning home to Birmingham in 2025.

Known online for creating viral TikTok and Instagram Reels showcasing her film camera set-ups and creative analogue photography methods, Kate has built a career by combining photography, digital storytelling and education. Her work has included collaborations with Nikon and Microsoft, alongside involvement in the wider film photography community through brands including Ilford, Lomography and Kodak.

Her photographic style has developed over a course of twenty years, stemming from a love of images that feel lived-in, rather than overly polished. Drawn to the unpredictability and limitations of analogue photography, Kate uses film as a way of slowing down, allowing imperfections, accidents and atmosphere to become part of the final image.

Since returning to Birmingham, Kate has also become involved with Darkroom Birmingham, and is set to be supporting the city’s analogue photography community as the space prepares to reopen in Autumn 2026. Across her work, she is interested in making analogue photography accessible, experimental and relevant to a new generation of photographers.”
